The law enforcement veteran and InVest USA founder discusses the calling of National Guard troops into the city to quell riots, and why it’s more effective than some may think.
Many people on social media want you to believe that Los Angeles isn’t as much of a “threat” as some people are painting it to be. But nothing could be further from the truth.
There’s a very good reason that President Donald Trump called in Marines and National Guard troops into the city earlier this week, in an effort to calm down ongoing riots surrounding ICE’s actions in arresting illegal immigrants throughout the area.
Many residents are trying to claim that there’s simply no need for these additional forces, and any protests are merely “peaceful.” So…if that’s the case, why am I seeing pictures with cars on fire and spray painted terms like “ICE SUCKS” in certain areas? People are pushing back, but they’re trying to present the illusion that they’re not pushing back.
It definitely doesn’t help that California Governor Gavin Newsom isn’t helping matters in the least. He considers the sending of troops an unnecessary move, all for the sake of flexing Trump’s ego.
In a statement, he noted, “California may be first, but it clearly will not end here. Other states are next. Democracy is next. Democracy is under assault before our eyes. This moment we have feared has arrived.”
Way to keep your residents calm, Governor. This is growing gasoline on a fire that needed to be calmed.
But he kept discussing the actions. ″He’s declared a war. A war on culture, on history, on science, on knowledge itself,” Newsom noted. “He’s delegitimizing news organizations, and he’s assaulting the First Amendment.”
Is he? Is Trump really that level of threat? Not in this particular case.
Rather than doing enough with his own police forces – who have no doubt been exhausted this week trying to keep up with his demands and keeping citizens safe during these protests – he simply wants to stroke his ego and insist he’s the responsible leader at a time like this.
But let’s look at the numbers, shall we?
A recent report by the Los Angeles Times indicates that 330 illegal immigrant criminals have been picked up in the surrounding California areas over a small period of time.
What’s more, during these “peaceful” protests (I say that with the hardest quotation marks I possibly can), several hundred people have been arrested, trying to push back based on their opinion instead of simply following officers’ commands.
So the results speak in themselves. These military forces are not only keeping the peace, but also effectively following the program that Trump put into place when it comes to removing violent illegal immigrants from the streets.
Need I remind you that a number of these criminals mean harm to the United States? We’ve seen hundreds – hell, thousands – of them set up criminal empires with gangs, and assault (and even kill) innocent Americans. All while Democrats and others have been insisting that they’re not the problem, but Trump is.
Newsom has easily adapted that way of thinking. He recently noted that U.S. Marines “shouldn’t be deployed on American soil facing their own countrymen to fulfill the deranged fantasy of a dictatorial President. This is un-American.”
It’s simple, Gavin. Real simple. You should be supporting the program instead of fighting so vehemently against it.
Not only are your comments chipping away like all the others from Democrats who fail to see things on the same level as Trump. But they’re also riling up Americans who believe that rioting is the answer. You’re encouraging these violent acts that, in turn, force your own police forces to make arrests and calm down the situation. You’re creating more of a situation than there needs to be.
I’d suggest Newsom get on the same page, but he’s probably on a completely different book by now. All I can say is there is rhyme to this reason, and there is more than enough cause for these soldiers to step in and keep peace within California. I just hope local police officers stay safe as well. They certainly don’t deserve an ounce of the vitriol that their own boss is serving up to them.
